The candidacy of Serge Espoir Matomba is amongst the 13 validated by Elections Cameroon on July 26, 2025 for the October Presidential election. It is the second time he will be participating in the Presidential election as the flag bearer of the United People for Social Renovation (PURS), after his maiden attempt in 2018 where he emerged seventh. Serge Espoir Matomba, born on September 30, 1979, in Douala, Littoral Region, is a Cameroonian politician. He is the First Secretary of PURS and has been a Municipal Councillor for Douala IV since 2013, re-elected in 2020 to the same position and later Municipal Councillor at the Douala City Council. He has always explained that his reasons for joining politics is because he wants to use his positions to inculcate some moral values in the population, which according to him will easily improve their living conditions. The Presidential candidate notes that he received a strict Christian education based on values such as love for one’s neighbour, the sense of sharing, and responsibility, values which he says revolve around his programme for the nation.
He is also a Cameroonian entrepreneur who claims he started being a sole proprietor at the age of 17, after an internship in a limited liability company. In 1996, he founded a consulting firm known as LDA specialised in project studies and viability, as well as in the import-export sector. Serge Espoir Matomba is married and is the author of several works, including Procedures on the Analysis and Management of Conflicts, published in April 2020.
